Prepaid Calling Cards

Prepaid calling cards are the low cost way to keep in touch with your friends & family

Prepaid calling cards are THE money-saving alternative to your current phone service. Prepaid cards are also a great way to connect with your family and friends, inside and outside the US.  Why are they so cheap? First, these companies are using modern internet technology. Second, post-pay long distance providers spend up to 1/3 of your phone bill for collections and bad-debt retrieval. With prepaid calling card plan, this money goes directly towards lowering rates for your phone calls.

The downside is the amount of prepaid calling cards and companies available. They vary both price-wise and service-wise. I have done a thorough research, and I found the best card.  (If you want, you can do a search yourself in the search box.)

I recommend the so-called “Emerald Plan” from the “Enjoy Prepaid” calling card. They are connected with another company called Nobel.

Emerald Plan offers you all the great services of other long distance providers, with lower rates and

  • NO monthly fees,
  • NO connection fee,
  • 1-minute rounding.
  • This prepaid phone card can be used outside the U.S., which means
  • your relatives can also call you using your account, in fact
  • you can use it in any other country with the provided toll free or local access numbers.
  • They also have an automatic recharge option, and
  • the card expires 2 years after the last time you used it.
  • Rate in the United States: 1.5¢/min.
  • You can get even lower rates, saving another 1¢ per minute if you use an area-specific local number instead of the 800 number.
  • Free 15 minute trial
  • Get $50 worth of minutes when you buy a $40 card
  • Earn points each time you buy minutes and these points can be transferred into additional minutes.
  • Get a free $20 recharge link through email when your birthday comes.
To give you an example, I call Central Europe. With my earlier card I used to pay 22 cents per minute for calling a cell phone, this particular plan allows me to call for 13 cents, which becomes even less with the discounts and bonuses listed above.

If you use your phone constantly, you can also pick a similar plan that has a small weekly fee, but lower rates.

Confirming your order is a way of ensuring consumer protection against credit card fraud.  A customer service representative will call you after you set up your account. They will send you an email informing you that your account has been refilled so that you can easily keep track of your account.
